Aubrey Erickson currently serves as Assistant Choir Director at Bridgeland High School, and is a private voice teacher, clinician, and judge in the Houston area. Before coming to BHS, she taught at Cypress Woods High School. Choirs under her direction consistently receive Sweepstakes, Best in Class, and top finisher awards at UIL Concert and Sight-reading Evaluation and various competitions. One of her great loves is service to her profession, having been a Section Leader for the Texas All-State Treble Choir in 2025, and the Organizer of the Region 27 Treble Choir for the past three years. She has been invited to present her session entitled "Voicing Your Treble Choir for Success" at the 2025 Texas Choral Directors Association Convention, and presented a session entitled "Harmonic Dictation in AP Music Theory: Sing, Hear, Write" for the 2023 Texas Music Educators Association Convention. Members of Mrs. Erickson's private voice studio are regularly selected to the Texas All-State Choir, advance to all rounds of the All-State audition process, and go on to pursue music in college.
Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Mrs. Erickson received her Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!), and her Bachelor of Music in Theory/Composition with Vocal Performance Certificate from University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!). She is an active performer in the Houston choral community, having sung with choirs including Bach Society Houston, Houston Chamber Choir, Chapelwood Cameron Cody Chorale, Chorus Angelorum, Suono Chamber Choir, and Casulana Women's Choir of Houston. She is also a flutist and often accompanies choirs on the flute. She is a huge foodie and absolutely loves the Tex Mex, Vietnamese, barbecue, and especially crawfish here in this part of Texas. She loves running, hiking, and biking, and has run three half marathons and a number of 5Ks and 10Ks. Her husband Michael teaches physics and coaches cross country and track at St. Thomas High School. They live in the city of Houston with their 2 orange cats and 1 black cat.
